Makeup Artists Inspire

Finding inspiration in the work I find posted on Instagram is nothing new, but recently I was lucky enough to be introduced to a body of work by a makeup artist Matt Goodlett in Kentucky. At least, I believe that’s where he’s located 🤔.

Anyhoo, there were quite a lot of very interesting devil and demon type styles that he worked with, some of which involved an IG friend that I’ve known for some time. In fact, I started down this path primarily drawing my interpretation of her (Mandy) in one of my favorite photos of her.

I took that image and created my own vision in illustration form.

My Version!

The guy who originally created the makeup work was blown away and reached out to me about perhaps going through some of his other work to see what else I could possibly come up with. There are quite a lot of images, but in the end I feel like I was able to pick some of my favorites of his recent work. I attempted multiple versions, and once I had something I really liked, it went up online. Following are the final results of all of the images I chose.

Demon Covers!

I guess the name ‘DEMON’ sort of stuck, and each image sort of resembled a graphic novel/comic cover. I like that look, even though I detest comic books. 👨🏻‍💻🤷🏻‍♂️ Let me be clear. I hate reading comics, but love staring at the cover art! So may that’s what these images represent to me. Potential ideas and stories. I’m no writer, so that’s not going to happen any time soon, but you never know!

Well that was fun!
